"And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Luke 23; 38-43 KJV 1769.
This is the Grace of our Lord at His worst moment. But make no mistake about it, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.
"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."
John 10:11 KJV 1769.
He goes on to say further,
“No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father."
John 10:18 KJV 1769.
Remember that we bring nothing but our sins and shame but yet our Father in Heaven shows us mercy and love in that He died for us. He shed His blood and bought us with that sacred blood. Oh what a wonderful Lord we serve.
"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement."
Romans 5:6-11.
There isn’t much I can add to this in that powerful moment. But do click on some of the video’s that express the point I’m trying to make.
But know this, we are saved by His Grace alone, through Faith alone in Christ alone.
Alistair Begg, hits the nail on the head with this short 4 minute clip. If you don't listen to any of the other videos, please listen to this one.
